DECC announce increase to GSHP non-domestic RHI tarriff.

Following the disappointing news in March of further delays to the launch of the domestic RHI, there was considerable unrest within the Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) industry, and a general feeling that continued delays were having a negative impact on the public view of the technology and the health of the ground source sector.

The DECC have now announced an increase in tariff rates for non-domestic GSHP installations, and while this does not address concerns regarding the domestic market, it does go some way to showing the governments belief in the technology and their support for the ground source sector.

The Ground Source Heat Pump Association (GSHPA) have said:

“Because GSHP’s can perform at all scales to provide space and hot water heating in a variety of different categories, they can make a significant contribution to the 2020 renewable energy target.

” With these changes, we expect to see growth in ground source installations and the supply of much greater levels of renewable heat in Britain.”
