Choosing heat emitters: UFH or radiators?

When upgrading your heating system or designing your own home, one thing that requires careful consideration is the type of heat emitters you have or want to have.

Radiators are the common, understood option for most people and are installed in most existing homes. While they have their advantages, are the right for use with renewable heating options?

Underfloor Heating in the preferred option when building your own home as it is efficient and aesthetically pleasing as it frees up wall space.

The general consensus is that UFH works best with heat pumps as it can cope with the low temperatures provided and still heat your home. Radiators may find this more difficult as they are designed to work with the higher temperatures produced by conventional gas boilers. However, they could still provide a suitable heating distribution system as long as they are oversized to the appropriate factor. Radiator design has evolved radically and so there are significantly more aesthetically pleasing options available if this option is preferred, from traditional horizontal options to modern verticals.
