HOTEL IN SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS SOURCES HEAT FROM GROUNDWATER

renews.biz reports that a hotel in Inverness is pioneering a low carbon heating option which will draw natural heat from groundwater.

The natural groundwater heat, abstracted from shallow wells, will be passed through heat pumps where the temperature will be raised before being distributed around the building via a small district heating network. The abstracted water will then be returned to its River Ness source. (Click here to read the full article.)

Here at H.D. Services, we have been installing this type of heating system since 2009, in single domestic properties, larger multiple occupancy buildings and small commercial properties across the South of England, so to us it is not a new approach – although to others it still appears to be a pioneering and innovative approach, as our 2020 REA Pioneer Award indicates.
