Government announces intention to extend RHI
The government has this week announced its intention to extend the deadline for applicants to the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) by a year, making the new deadline 31st January 2021.
A co-ordinated industry effort has campaigned for the extension since 2018. The announcement could be seen as a positive signal that the government are committed to the renewable heat sector, which has always been a question.
While this is good news, the extension will require a change in the Regulations which means it could be later on in the year before Ofgem can formally offer the extension.
