March 2024 – Open-Loop Heat Pump Installation – Winchester
‘Our Village Hall needed to replace its aged gas boilers with heating that would take advantage of our new solar panels and would also lower our carbon footprint and so utilise the climate change grants available.
We used HD Services to install an Open-Loop Ground Source Heat Pump. We are very pleased with them. This is not a common type of installation, but the estimate was detailed and explanatory setting out exactly what we could expect. The borehole drilling and heat pump installation was undertaken by their own staff in a neat, tidy and safe manner and they were very accommodating to our hirers of the hall. We were given a full guide to operating the heat pumps, there were some minor teething issues, but they were attended to promptly.
The GSHP will safeguard our energy costs against rises in the price of carbon-based fuels and enable us to keep our hire charges affordable for the local community.
In all we felt the work was carried out very professionally and we would use HD Services again.
N.B. I am a retired Chartered Survey with a career supervising contracting works for clients. Whilst I have never supervised a ground source heat pump installation, I would classify HD Services as first class contractors.’

The techies amongst us must be impressed with the state of the art equipment you supplied, the rest can be assured that provision of twin pumps plus the electronic control system provides protection against the previous problems we have endured, including extreme fluctuations in voltage and the disaster of a pump failure without a backup.

We approached HD services to provide us with a ground source heat pump to feed our underfloor heating system and provide hot water on a new build in early 2018. They kept a very neat and clean site during the drilling of the bore hole in October 2018 and while installing all the 1st fix pipework. They then had to wait until July 2019 for the new heat pump to be installed and finally commissioned in September. Any questions for help or advise were dealt with very promptly and were sorted out very professionally as well as pointing us in the direction of a plumbing engineer to design our system most efficiently. They are well versed in the domestic RHI and have been able to assist us with any queries we have had regarding the scheme. They have provided us with good customer service and I would recommend their services to others who were thinking of installing an Open-Loop ground source heat pump. The aftercare has been excellent and they have dealt with any issues promptly and professionally.

‘We approached H.D Services to proved us with a ground source heat pump to align with our underfloor heating system in 2014….They kept a very neat and clean site and kept the turf which they used to replace the site at the end. We had to wait until May 2015 for the new heat pump to be commissioned but when it came we were very pleased with the installation. They did what they said they were going to do and worked well with the other contractor. we have been very pleased with the heat pump. Any problems we have had….were dealt with very promptly nd were sorted out very professionally. HD provided a very efficient and streamlined service to help us with our MCS application and all paperwork is backed up with insurance and warranties. Our house is now beautifully warm and efficient due to the heat pump and borehole.’
