And the winner is……
After 40 long years dedicated to his business and the industry, Frank Harris Director of H D Services Ltd has won the very prestigious and well deserved “Director of The Year” award at the East of England Regional Energy Efficiency Awards.
Having gained his HNC’s in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, Frank began his journey working for LeGrand Drilling. He Started his business, H D Services Ltd in 1984, later becoming incorporated in 1988.
Initially, H D Services Ltd focussed on cable percussion drilling-the method preferred by the Environment Agency-for water supply and soakaway boreholes in the south East of England and the design and installation of Sewage Treatment Systems and Septic Tanks for domestic properties.
15 years ago, Frank and his Son, Paul attended training in Brussels to learn about Geothermal Heat Pumps. They took the decision at this point to branch out in to the Renewable Energy Industry and worked closely with SoleCo Heat Pumps to master the installation of their products. As time went on, Frank supported various employees with their education and H D Services Ltd had not only 3 qualified land drillers, but also two qualified plumbers and two qualified electricians-important for the HP installs! H D Services turned to Kensa to supply their Heat Pumps and still work closely with them now.
Frank has been a part of the Well Drillers Association and a fellow of the British Geological Survey for a number of decades. Since branching out into the Renewables sector, he became a member of the GSHPA, regularly attending conferences to learn about changes and updates within the sector. He has been chosen twice as Vice Chairman of the Well Drillers Association, again regularly attending meetings and conferences.
For the last 40 years, Frank has worked tirelessly to ensure the business has thrived through various economic crashes and a global pandemic. He is dedicated to his trade and staff and his knowledge and skillset knows no bounds. In the last 10 years, H D Services ltd has won awards every single year at the Energy Efficiency Awards-not an easy feat for a small family run company! But it is thanks to Frank and his excellence that H D Services Ltd was able to achieve this and its about time he got some recognition for his hard work and dedication to his passion.
