People In The Chilterns: ‘Don’t Be Pressured Into Going Green’
Cllr Isobel Darby has warned people living in the Chilterns area that thay should not feel pressurised by cold callers into having an assessment carried out under the Green Deal.
She said:
“We fully support the Green Deal scheme. It offers householders an opportunity to make their homes warmer, and cheaper to heat, without having to lay out large sums of money in one fell swoop.
“At the same time, we want to make sure residents know their rights when dealing with cold callers. No-one should feel pressurised into having an assessment, or feel they have to make an instant decision. The suggestions we’re making will help people make informed decisions and get the best deal.”
In recent months, there have been a number of unscrupulose people trying to make a quick profit out of peoples best intentions and money saving activities. There have been a numner of incidents where people have felt pressurised into having a Green Deal Assessment carried out, and have had to pay through the nose for it.
