MCS Heat Pump Standard to be split

H & V News have published information on the their website regarding upcoming changes to the Microgeneration Certificate Scheme (MCS) standards for the installation of Heat Pump systems, set to be introduced after the closure of the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive on 31st March 2022.

The existing Heat Pump Standard (MIS 3005) in set to be split in two. One standard for Heat Pump Design (MIS 3005-D) and one for Heat Pump Installation (MIS 3005-I). The changes will become mandatory from I April.

This is a positive outcome for installers as we approach the end of the DRHI. The diversification of the new Heat Pump Standards will enable the industry to deliver the best service for customers and accommodate contractors who wish to streamline their skillset. It is a move in the right direction as we look to …. increase the adoption of heat pumps in UK homes and non-domestic buildings.

Ian Rippin – Chief Executive of MCS.
