Annual heat pump installs will have to increase significantly to meet the governments ambitious target of 600,000 heat pump installtions per year by 2028.
Currently, the UK installs around 22000 heat pumps per year of which about a quarter are the more efficient ground source option.
Consumer awareness of heat pumps is low in the UK and it remains a very expensive option when compared with conventioanl gas fired boilers.
