Labour U-Turn on £28bn Green Investment Pledge
The UK Labour party has dropped its flagship plan to spend £28 billion a year on renewable energy projects including an expansion of offshore wind, if elected to power.
Labour leader Sir Kier Starmer said the spending pledge, first announced by shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves in 2021, was being dropped from the party’s election manifesto owing to Government tax cuts and spending plans.
