MCS figures highlight 2023 growth in UK heat pump installations

Latest data from certification body cites the expansion of grant funding through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme as helping drive interest in certified heat pump installations

2023 has been a record year for registered UK heat pump installations, according to data from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

MCS, which offers certification services for different renewable energy solutions, said that growing demand for heat pumps could be attributed to recent amendments to the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) incentive. It also reflected growing interest for registered installations of a range of low carbon solutions such as Solar PV technologies and battery systems.  MCS accreditation is a mandatory requirement for installers wishing to install heat pump via the BUS.
