REA hails Labour renewable energy priorities
The Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA) has hailed the intervention by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, which highlighted the importance of renewable energy and clean technology to gain “energy independence” in the UK.
In his New Year’s Speech, Starmer stated that clean British energy is nine times cheaper than imported fossil fuels and that it should be backed by both public and private investment, highlighting the role of several technologies including wind, solar, hydrogen, and carbon capture.
Labour’s plan for 100% clean power generation by 2030 by forging public-private partnerships on energy in the form of Great British Energy is also a welcome measure, the REA said.
