The DRHI Closure and the scheme designed to replace it – the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
The domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (dRHI) is due to close to new applicants on the 31st March 2022.
The Government have a proposal in the pipeline to replace it – the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). This proposed scheme is a grant based system which offers a lump sum one off payment to those installing renewable heating systems in their home. While the dRHI could cover most of the installation cost of a system, it is highly unlikely that the BUS grant will come close to covering the cost, with the proposals outlining a maximum £5000 grant for air source heat pump systems and £6000 for ground source heat pump systems.
