RHI How to Workshop

NOTE: THE RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE (RHI) FOR DOMESTIC APPLICATONS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL 2013

On  the 25th September, the REA held a ‘How To’ workshop for those applying for the RHI. While this was aimed at the commercial sector, it provided a good opportunity for us to understand the challenges customers may face when applying for the RHI for domestic ground source heat pump installations.

One of the main issues focused on was the application process and the challenges this has presented applicants. Ofgem, responsible for the administration of the RHI,  are available to assist customers with applications. Of the 750 commercial applications made to date, 300 have been approved, 4 have been rejected and the others are still under review. Ofgem are committed to helping customers to submit complete and accurate applications, and are currently reviewing the online form in the hope of making it more user friendly.

For customers, the most important thigs to remember about the eligibility for the domestic RHI are:

  • Your installation has been carried out by a certified MCS installer – HD Services are MCS accreddited.
  • The heat pump is MCS certified –ALL heat pumps used by HD Services Ltd are MCS accreddited.
  • The heat pump has less than a 45kW capacity – HD Services Ltd do not install heat pumps with a capacity larger than 45kW for domestic installations.

As a result of attending this workshop H D Services Ltd are considering how we can best support our customers in making their applications, and we are already altering some of our client paperwork to assist the RHI application process.
